Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Maintain an approximate patient ratio of 1 nurse to 5 patients while prioritizing safety and outcomes
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias to initiate timely interventions
• Perform IV starts and manage peripheral and central lines, including PICC line and port care
• Document accurately and efficiently using the Epic electronic health record system
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed to support patient care across the organization
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy and social services to coordinate care
• Respond to emergency situations and participate in rapid response activities when required
• Assist with specialty procedures and post-procedure recovery such as kidney biopsy recovery and paracentesis

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state-specific licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience; candidates with MS/Telemetry should have a minimum of 4 years of MS/Tele experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proven experience with telemetry monitoring, IV starts, and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
• Familiarity with Epic for charting and documentation
• Willingness to float to other units within the OSU organization as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias and emergency cardiac response
• IV therapy including starts, maintenance, and PICC/port management
• Familiarity with Epic charting workflows and documentation best practices
• Experience in MS/Tele, PCU/Stepdown, and intermediate care settings
• Non-invasive airway management and oxygen delivery (nasal cannula, etc.)
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support patient flow
