Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, typically 3 shifts/week (self-scheduled; may include weekends). Day shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM (Day). Night shift: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM (Night). Orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri days; Week 2 = 36 hours on-unit with preceptor.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias to keep patients safe
- Respond as an active member of rapid response and code teams when needed
- Provide high-acuity PCU nursing care including central line, PICC and peripheral line management
- Initiate and maintain IVs, administer blood products and follow heparin and insulin protocols
- Manage respiratory support including HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy care and ABG interpretation
- Care for chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and manage wound care including Wound VAC when applicable
- Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity of care
- Practice strict infection prevention and isolation precautions to protect patients and staff
- Educate patients and families about care plans, procedures and safety measures
- Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity and collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (PT, RT, pharmacy, social work)
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in state of practice (ability to work in Ohio)
- Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (PCU/telemetry or ICU backgrounds do well here)
- Certifications required: BCLS (BLS), ACLS, NIHSS (as noted)
- Epic charting experience required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required — ICU/PCU experience valued
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Comfort working with high-acuity PCU patients and variable staffing ratios (1:3 PCU; 1:4-5 MedSurg Telemetry)
- Willingness to float to similar acuity units and a team-oriented mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Rapid response/code team participation
- Central line, PICC and peripheral IV care and IV starts
- Blood product administration and adherence to protocols
- Heparin protocol and titration of cardiac drips (manage/titrate as appropriate)
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and tracheostomy care
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), CPAP/BiPAP and non-invasive airway support
- ABG interpretation and ventilatory assessment
- PCA pump management and Alaris pump familiarity
- Infection prevention, isolation precautions and fall prevention strategies
- Feeding tube care and basic wound care / Wound VAC familiarity
- Arterial line management and phlebotomy (preferred)
